USDA Proposed Changes to Regulations for Local & Imported Lamb Sales
USDA is proposing to change the US Livestock Mandatory Reporting regulations for domestic and imported boxed lamb cuts sales.
They want to
- change the definition of "carlot-based" to limit carlot-based sales of boxed lamb cuts to transactions between a buyer and a seller consisting of 1,000 pounds or more of one or more individual boxed lamb items
- amend the definition of "importer" lowering the volume level for importers from 5,000 metric tons of lamb meat products per year to 2,500 metric tons.
Comments for the proposed rule are due by December 26.
