Lallemand's yeast production site in Vienna awarded FAMI-QS certificate
Press release
Lallemand has announced that its Austrian yeast production plant, located near Vienna, has received FAMI-QS (Feed Additives and Premixtures Quality System) certification.
Specific probiotic strains (Levucell SC and Levucell SB) and selenium-enriched yeast (Alkosel) are among the high quality yeast products that can be manufactured in Vienna. This second FAMI-QS certificate announced this year is the illustration of Lallemand's strategy to invest in quality management systems, and to be at the forefront of the strictest regulations, in order to guarantee product quality, traceability and efficacy for its customers, down to the farmer and consumer.
Bernadette Okeke, Lallemand's new Head of Regulatory Affairs, explained, "The FAMI-QS code of practice and the associated certification are aimed at assuring quality, and most importantly, safety of feed additives and premixtures. It does integrate the requirements of the EC Feed Hygiene Regulation. The Feed Hygiene Regulation includes measures to ensure traceability, as well as implementation and maintenance of food safety management systems such as Hazard Analysis at Critical Control Points (HACCP)."
Earlier this year, with the acquisition of Anchor Yeast in South Africa and its two yeast production sites, Lallemand greatly increased its fermentation capacity in order to serve the booming international market of natural feed ingredients with high quality products.
