Indian Oilseeds Conference To Focus On Yield
Organised by Soyabean Processors Association of India (SOPA), in conjunction with the apex body Central Organisation for Oil Industry and Trade, the meeting will look into issues impacting the domestic processing sector including oilseeds yield, edible oil imports and related tariffs, oilmeal exports and so on.
Kharif 2003 oilseeds crop estimate will also be released on the occasion.
With the present capacity, the industry is geared to meet the domestic requirement of edible oil but falls short because of non-availability of raw material, SOPA said, adding that efforts are directed at increasing production and productivity.
India, nearly self-reliant in edible oil production by early 1990s, has become the world's largest importer with an annual volume of 50 lakh tonnes.
