Belgium's pig farmers once more excluded from making contributions to budget fund for animal health, product quality

Pig farmers in Belgium will again be exempted from contributing to the country's budget fund for the health and quality of animals and animal products.

The Belgian pig sector has long been regarded as a sector in crisis. The government had thus extended that statute until the end of this year. The sector has been confronted with various crises in recent years. Its problem is further exacerbated by the war in Ukraine.

Contributions to the budget fund, also known as the Sanitary Fund, represent approximately 3 million euros and would mean an exemption of an average of 650 euros per company in the industry.
