Five more African swine fever cases discovered among wild boar
Germany's Federal Agriculture Ministry said it had confirmed five more African swine fever (ASF) cases among wild boar in Brandenburg state, east Germany, Reuters reported.
This brings the total ASF cases discovered to 91 since the first case was reported on September 10. All the cases have been limited to Brandenburg state, with no farm livestock infected.
Germany has focused its pork sales to within the European Union, after China and other Asian pork buyers imposed bans on German pork imports. This has stabilised German pork prices in recent weeks.
The German government is currently in discussions with Asian pork buyers to amend the nationwide pork import ban, only limiting the ban to areas where ASF has been detected.
