ICC awarded for yeast-poultry research in Mexico

 


ICC was honored with a Lauriston Von Schmidt award for "best work" at the XXV Latin American Poultry Congress, in Guadalajara, Mexico.

 
The event happened in late September this year.

 

The award recognised a research, entitled "The effectiveness of yeast cell wall in commercial hens on intestinal and ovarian colonization of Salmonella Enteritidis", which was conducted at the Southern Poultry Research Group in the US by Dr. Charles Hofacre.

 
Dr. Hofacre, president of the Southern Poultry Research Group, is a professor at the University of Georgia where he is primarily responsible for teaching students of the Masters of Avian Medicine, activities in the Poultry Diagnostics Lab, and support of the poultry industry in the southeastern region of the US.

 

His highly sought after research expertise involves necrotic enteritis and organisms in food-borne illness.
