Diamond V enters into Myanmar distribution partnership
Diamond V recently launched a distributor partnership in Myanmar with Sein Ngwe Mya Trading Co. Ltd.
Although Myanmar's population of 55 million remains largely rural, the country's growing urban population is increasing demand for poultry meat, eggs, and pork. Diamond V products for poultry and swine can play an important role as the country's farmers adapt their operations to meet the needs of the changing market, says Jiraphat Thamrongchawalit, DVM, MBA, who is Country Director, Thailand for Diamond V based in Bangkok.
Wasupong Maneekhat, DVM, Assistant Vice President and Head of Sein Ngwe Mya Trading welcomes the opportunity to bring Diamond V products to Myanmar. "We will grow together," he said at a ribbon-cutting ceremony in Yangon to celebrate the new partnership.
"Consumers today," Dr. Thamrongchawalit noted, "are increasingly concerned about the excessive use of antibiotics in chickens, pigs, and other food animals. Therefore, farmers are working towards producing animals with qualifications that meet consumer desires and the market's demand.
"Diamond V products are 100% natural," he added, "and are safe for animals, humans, and the environment. Myanmar is a massive and still growing market for poultry and swine. Diamond V products offer non-antibiotic solutions that support the immune system, which is the animal's natural defence against disease and other factors that negatively affect health and wellness. Healthy animals are efficient and productive, which greatly benefits the farmers' business in the long run."
The ribbon-cutting event featured Roongthip Chuanchuen, PhD, Head of Research Unit in Microbial Food Safety and Antimicrobial Resistance at Chulaongkorn University in Bangkok, who spoke on the prudent use of antibiotics in poultry production and the main options to reduce or control antibiotic resistance.
Also, Yuk Kwaun Kwan, DVM, Senior Consultant – Technical Services with Diamond V based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia provided details about Diamond V products and research and development capabilities. She presented a brief review of recent Diamond V research focused on immune function and animal performance.
"Strengthening the immune system," Dr. Kwan said, "will progressively and eventually improve animal performance overall. The immune system can be strengthened by Diamond V products."
