Ukraine harvested 47.3 million tonnes of grains as of October 21, 2011, an increase of 20.1% compared to the same date of 2010, the Ministry of Agrarian Policy and Food reported.
According to the announcement, agrarians harvested grains and leguminous crops throughout the areas of 13.8 million hectares, or 90% of the forecast. The average yield of these crops in the country totalled 34.2 centners/hectare against 27.6 c/ha last year.
Agrarians harvested 11.8 million tonnes of corn throughout 2.1 million hectares (58% of the forecast). The average yield totalled 56.7 c/ha, as opposed to 43.6 c/ha in 2010.
Agrarians harvested buckwheat throughout 274,000 hectares (97% of the forecast). The production volumes totalled 309,000 tonnes with the average yield of 11.3 c/ha against 8.2 c/ha last year.
Ukraine harvested millet throughout 151,000 hectares (99% of the forecast), and produced 291,000 tonnes with the average yield of 19.1 c/ha (in 2010 - 15.3 c/ha).
As of October 21, Ukraine produced 8.2 million tonnes of sunflower seed throughout the areas of 4.4 million hectares (96%). The average yield totalled 18.6 c/ha, as opposed to 16 c/ha in 2010.
Ukrainian agrarians harvested soy throughout 0.9 million hectares (80%), and produced 1.8 million tonnes with the yield of 20.3 c/ha (in 2010 - 15.5 c/ha). Agrarians harvested rapeseed throughout 0.83 million hectares, and produced 1.4 million tonnes of the oilseed.
