Malaysian poultry farming association president detained over alleged bribery for subsidy claims

The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has apprehended the president of a local poultry farming association on charges of allegedly offering a bribe of MYR 17,000 to a ministry official to expedite the processing of chicken and egg subsidy claims, Free Malaysia Today reported.
The individual, who also holds the position of a company director, was taken into custody, along with one of his employees, when they visited the MACC headquarters to provide their statements.
The detained individual, aged in his 40s, remained in custody until October 22 following the approval of MACC's remand application by Magistrate Irza Zulaikha Rohanuddin at the magistrates' court today. The employee was released on MACC bail.
MACC's senior investigations director, Hishamuddin Hashim, has confirmed the arrest and specified that the case is currently under investigation in accordance with Section 17(b) of Malaysia's MACC Act 2009.
