China's Inner Mongolia aims to increase grain, soy output
China's Inner Mongolia region will increase its grain and soy output through expanding acreage and improving unit yields over the next few years, the Zhengzhou Grain Wholesale Market said Wednesday (October 24, 2007).
The autonomous region will increase its annual soy output in Daxinganling region to 1.5 million tonnes by 2010, the grain market said in an article published on its Web site, without providing the current soy output figure for the region.
Inner Mongolia is one of China's major soy producing regions, with soy output accounting for 8 percent of the country' total.
It aims to increase its total annual corn output in the West Liao River Plain and Hetao Plain by 20 percent by 2010, the article said.
The autonneomous region will also increase its annual wheat output in the Hetao Plain and Daxinganling region by a combined 20 percent by 2010, it said.
