Egg production in US state Arkansas rises 10% in August
The state of Arkansas in the US produced a total of 335 million eggs in August, up 10% year-on-year, while eggs produced per 100 layers increased 1% year-on-year to 2,102, Magnolia Reporter reported.
The number of layers in the same month averaged 15.9 million, an increase of 9% from last year, while broiler-type chicks hatched in the state in August totalled 84.2 million, down 7% from August 2019.
Poultry is the largest agriculture commodity in Arkansas, with over 6,500 farms producing some type of poultry. Benton is the No. 1 poultry-producing county in Arkansas..
Meanwhile, the total number of eggs produced in the US in August reached 9.29 billion, down 2% year-on-year, the report said.
Egg production per 100 layers in August was 2,445 eggs, up 1% from last year.
Layers in the country numbered 380 million in August, down 3% from last year, while broiler-type chicks hatched in August decreased 2% to 837 million year-on-year.
