Turkey egg, chicken meat outputs increase in August
Turkey's total chicken eggs produced in August reached 1.6 billion, 2.9% up compared with the previous month and 3.3% up from August 2016, according to the Turkish Statistical Institute.
Chicken meat production in August, on the other hand, totalled 193,123 tonnes, down 1.4% in August compared with the previous month, and up 9.9% compared with August 2016.
The number of slaughtered chicken in August reached 111 million, down 3.3% compared with the previous month, and up 5.5% compared with the same month last year.
Turkey meat production in August decreased 2.7% to 5,367 tonnes compared with the previous month, but was up 10% from August 2016.
The number of slaughtered turkey in August decreased 0.3% to 516,000 compared with the previous month, but increased 9.7% compared with the same month last year.
