McDonald's contracts new meat supplier in Russia

McDonald's has entered into a meat supply agreement with Miratorg Company, one of the largest Russian meat importers and manufacturers.

All the meat will be produced at the Concordia factory in Kaliningrad, which was launched in late 2008 and designed to produce 58,000 tons of semi-finished meat.

Miratorg already sell beef burgers and chicken nuggets to McDonald's and it is now planning to start supplying pork, with the hope of supplying a full range of meat and even fish to McDonald's in the future, said a company official.

The official said the contract is worth US$80 million annually, and nearly 30 percent of the Concordia plant's production will be supplied to the fast food chain giant.
