H.J. Baker adds another feed plant to its stable
H.J. Baker & Bro. Inc. opened its feed division plant in Forest, Mississippi recently.
The plant, which will produce PRO-PAK and PROPLUSTM protein concentrates for poultry, is located in Scott County, a major chicken producing area in the country.
The Forest plant will serve Sanderson Farms, Peco Foods, Koch Foods, Wayne Poultry and Marshall Durbin and join other plants in the country in continuing H.J. Baker's 150-year commitment to its customers, the company said.
The company is run by president and chief executive officer Christopher Smith, president of business development David Smith and chairman of the board Matthew Smith. The three brothers are the fourth generation from the Smith family to serve H.J. Baker in leadership positions.
H.J. Baker & Bro., Inc., headquartered in Westport, Connecticut, has served the fertiliser and animal feed industries since 1850.
Last June, the company was involved in a recall of three livestock feed ingredients after a test by the FDA found it contained meat and bone meal.
