Germany detects nine new African swine fever cases among wild boar

Germany's Agriculture Ministry has confirmed nine new African swine fever (ASF) cases among wild boar in Brandenburg state, east Germany, Reuters reported.

This brings the total number of ASF cases in the state to 80 since the first case was reported on September 10. All ASF cases have only been detected among wild boar, no farm livestock have been infected.

Germany has received positive signals in discussions with Asian countries about easing a German pork import ban, imposed after Germany reported its first ASF case.

Despite China, Japan and South Korea imposing bans on German pork imports, pork prices in Germany have stayed the same this week with more sales inside the European Union.
