Argentina's exports of pork products and by-products rose by 63% between January and September this year, according to statistics from the National Food Safety and Quality Service (SENASA).

In the first nine months of 2020, Argentinean shipments - including meat, offal, casings and cold cuts - to countries in four continents totaled 32,276 tonnes compared to 19,797 tonnes in the same period last year. The main destinations were China (16,551 tonnes), Hong Kong (4,617 tonnes), Russia (3,512 tonnes), Chile (1,966 tonnes) and the Ivory Coast (1,112 tonnes).

Other destinations were Angola (787 tonnes), Paraguay (702 tonnes), Peru (694 tonnes), Colombia (662 tonnes) and the Democratic Republic of Congo (661 tonnes).

Despite challenges pertaining to safety and hygiene standards and the COVID-19 pandemic, Argentina maintains 39 open markets for its pork products.
