Zoetis refurbishes US site for vaccine production

Zoetis filed a nearly US$20 million building permit in July, and spokeswoman Kristin Seely said the project involves remodelling an existing area of its Lincoln, Nebraska plant to provide additional space for the production of livestock vaccines, Lincoln Journal Star reported on October 21.

She said the project is expected to be completed towards the end of 2020.

Seely added once the remodel is complete, Zoetis will make a decision on what additional work or products may be added to the Lincoln site.

The plant has seen millions of dollars in investment since Pfizer spun off its animal health business into a separate company, Zoetis, in 2013, and about US$70 million has since been spent on physical expansions on both the east and west sides.

The 2015 addition on the east side of the plant facilitated the production of Synovex, an injectable hormone that promotes weight gain in cattle.
