More than 30% Increase in Russia's Poultry Meat Production

Russian Deputy Economic Development and Trade Minister Maxim Medvedkov told Itar-Tass on October 21 that there's an increase of more than 30% in Russia's poultry meat production in the last six months due to import restrictions for this type of meat.

Medvedkov who is paying a visit to Voronezh said that removing those restrictions at this point would be inexpedient for they are helping domestic manufacturers to restore their production.

At the same time, he noted that the restrictions arouse negative effect too: the domestic prices for poultry meat have gone up.

However, Medvedkov believes that a balance of prices will be created in the market next year when Russian manufacturers' competition heats up.
