Another 300,000 chickens culled in the Netherlands due to bird flu

The Dutch government is set to cull another 300,000 chickens after a highly infectious strain of bird flu was detected at a farm south of the country, Channel News Asia reported.

Following dozens of cases earlier in the year, there have been about 30 cases of the extremely deadly strain of avian flu reported in the Netherlands since early September 2022.

The Dutch food safety authority said that nearly 6 million birds have already been killed in the Netherlands since the new variant of the disease was discovered on October 26 of last year.

After experiencing its worst-ever bird flu wave earlier this year, France has also seen a resurgence in cases in recent weeks.
