China to become Chile's main importer of food products
"Chile exported 60,000 tons of pork to China in 2013, doubled from last year. More and more Chilean companies are exporting a wide range of pork products to China as they are very positive about the rapid economic growth of the Chinese market," said Juan Ovalle, President of ChilePork, a pork producers association.
During Chilean Agriculture Minister Carlos Furche's recent visit to China, he mentioned that Chile's food exports to China have been growing at 50% annually for the last three years, and the first half of 2014 when compared to the same period last year, has already seen a 20% growth.
It is expected that China will become Chile's main importer of food products in a decade.
