Ukraine's August meat output stays flat

In August, Ukraine's meat production in live weight remained at 204,500 tonnes compared with July, but grew 3.6% or 7,600 tonnes on-year, the State Statistics Committee reported.

Production of meat by private farms went up by 12% or by 8,600 tonnes in August, compared with July, to 80,400 tonnes. Specialised farms decreased meat production by 6.5% or 8,600 tonnes to 124,100 tonnes.

In January-August 2010, meat production rose 6.3% or 106,000 tonnes, compared with January-August 2009, to 1,775,400 tonnes.

In 2009, meat production climbed 0.2% or 5,200 tonnes to 2,728,400 tonnes, compared with 2008, it said.
