Ukraine's Ag Min Raises 2004-2005 Grain Export Forecast
Ukraine agrarian policy ministry has raised its forecast for the export of grain in the 2004-2005 marketing season to 11-12 million metric tons from the previous estimate of 9-10 million tons, deputy minister Yury Luzan said in Kiev Tuesday.
Luzan said the increased export forecast was due to a higher than expected corn harvest.
He also said Ukrainian exchanges had registered to date 2004 grain export contracts totaling 6.2 million tons, including 868,000 tons of milling grain, of which 800,000 tons is milling wheat.
The remainder of the export contracts includes 3.3 million tons of barley and 1.8 million tons of feed wheat.
