China bans poultry imports from US state of Idaho
China has banned poultry imports from the US state of Idaho due to bird flu.
The decision was taken due to the discovery of the low pathogenic bird flu H5N8 in a poultry-breeding farm in Idaho.
In order to prevent the virus from spreading to China, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine has not only banned imports from Idaho, but has also announced that all poultry and poultry products coming into the country through post or visitors from the US would be rejected or destroyed.
