US 2004 Beef Exports Project At 1.207 Million MT, Imports At 1.556 Million MT
The U.S. Department of Agriculture projected Friday, U.S. exports of beef and veal in 2004
would increase 1.3% to 1.207 million tons and imports would increase 18.7% to 1.556 million tons.
MAJOR EXPORTERS:
Australia, the world's largest exporter of beef, is expected to expand exports 4.0% to 1.3 million metric tons in 2004.
Beef export projections in 2004 for Brazil are up 20.2% to 1,370,000 metric tons.
USDA predicts Canada will increase exports of beef by 44.7% to 615,000 metric tons.
MAJOR IMPORTERS:
Japan, the world's second largest leading importer of beef, is is estimated to increased imports by 4.0% to 1.3 million metric tons in 2004.
