EuroTier 2022 expresses support for Ukrainian agriculture

 

 

The German Agricultural Society (DLG) has launched several initiatives for Ukraine at EuroTier 2022.

 

Together with the German-Ukrainian Agricultural Policy Dialogue on November 16, the DLG will host an international conference titled "The struggle for existence of Ukrainian livestock farming ".

 

With the aim of supporting Ukrainian agricultural businesses affected by war, the DLG, the organiser of EuroTier, will be donating one euro to the "Save UA Foundation" for every ticket sold to the trade fair taking place in Hanover, Germany, on November 15-18, 2022.

 

Ukraine conference addressing the future of Ukrainian agriculture

 

The wide-ranging consequences of the war in Ukraine on the country's livestock farming and sustainable reconstruction will be among the topics dealt with at a specialist conference on November 16 .

 

The war has serious consequences for Ukraine's agriculture, particularly for livestock farming, DLG noted. With the production and logistics infrastructure of agriculture largely destroyed in many places, availability of farm inputs and workers is reduced, while military attacks continue, often on the premises of individual agribusinesses.

 

According to preliminary estimates, 15-20% of cattle, pigs and poultry in Ukraine have already perished as a result of the war.

 

High-ranking representatives from Ukraine's agricultural policy and economy will present the status quo, including the development of livestock farming during the war as well as the need for reconstruction.

 

The speakers will also present proposals for deepening economic cooperation with Germany and the European Union so that successful reconstruction can result.

 

During Eurotier 2022, Ukrainian trade associations – the Ukrainian Agribusiness Club (UCAB), the Ukrainian Agrarian Council (UAC), the Association of Milk Producers (AMP) and the Association of Pig Breeders (APB) – will be convening at a joint exhibition stand for an exchange with companies, trade visitors and media on the current challenges facing Ukraine's livestock farming and its feed industry.
