As Pakistan's export of shrimp and fish has slowed down significantly to the Arab Republic because of continued political crisis, the country is struggling to find a steady Egyptian market for its seafood products.
After the EU banned Pakistan's shrimp import in 2007, the country's seafood exporters explored the Middle East market for its products particularly the crustaceans.
However, the Egyptian political crisis began with Arab Spring badly hit Pakistan's export which still struggled to see a stable market, exporters said. Pakistan's seafood export was declined by 21% in August this fiscal year because of the low global shrimp and fish prices, exporter said. They said the country's export of shrimp significantly reduced around 35% after India expanded its export of the same products to the Middle East.
"Pakistan's landing of shrimp this season has also remained poor as exporters are unable to place global orders," they said.
