Chinese Vitamin C Producers Raise Prices to Instill Market Demand

Chinese producers have raised their offer prices for vitamin C products by an average of RMB2.0/kg in recent days in an attempt to instill market demand in the current traditionally lull season.

 

The period from October to March is traditionally a low season for vitamin C demand from China's feed industry, as vitamin C raw material is mainly used for aqua feed production and the treatment of diseases due to heat stress in poultry. With the approach of the winter season, the demand for vitamin C raw material from the feed industry would undoubtedly weaken.

 

Current offer prices for vitamin C raw material (98%-99%) issued by major Chinese producers have been adjusted upward to the level of RMB45/kg.   

 

On the other hand, export prices of China's locally produced vitamin C raw material have been on a downward trend since September. As at October 18, export prices have reached a low level of US$4.8/kg.
