Close to half of US corn harvest completed, soybean acreage past 60%

 

 

 

US corn harvest is 45% completed with soybean acreage now at 62% finished according to the latest United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) weekly crop progress report.

 

The current corn harvest is ahead of the 43% achieved in 2022 and the five-year average of 42% with North Carolina the top US state with 94% of its acreage completed, followed by Texas at 86%.

 

The amount of corn rated as mature is now at 95% with 53% of the crop listed as being in good-excellent condition.

 

For soybeans, the rate of harvest continues to outpace corn with 62% of the acreage completed, which is above the 60% achieved in 2022 and ahead of the five-year average of 52%.

 

Louisiana is still the leading US state with 95% of the crop completed, followed by Mississippi at 88%.

 

There is now 97% of the crop which is dropping leaves with 52% listed as being in good-excellent condition.
