Brazilian chicken exports surge in September 2005
 

 

Brazilian chicken exports reached US$331.5 million in September 2005, surging 57 percent year-on-year, according to the Brazilian Poultry Exporters Association (Abef). Export volume during the same period totalled 255,000 tonnes, up 19.3 percent year-on-year.

 

From January to September this year, the cumulative export volume was 2.13 million tonnes, up 18 percent year-on-year. Cumulative sales revenues during the same period totalled US$2.5 billion, up 31 percent compared with the same period the previous year.

 

The Middle East was the main export destination for Brazilian chicken in terms of volume, totalling 626,600 tonnes worth US$667 million during the first nine months of this year.

 

Meanwhile, Asia was the main market for Brazilian chicken with regard to revenues, which totalled US$722.1 million from January to September 2005. The corresponding volume exported during this period was 559,400 tonnes.
