China's Henan to achieve production rise for grains
China's Henan Province is close to completing its autumn harvesting and is expected to reach an increase in output of crops, including rice and corn.
The head of the provincial agricultural department, Zhu Mengzhou, said that rise in planting area and promotion of agricultural technology contributed to bumper harvest of autumn grain.
Henan is a major grain producing province in the country, yielding about 10% of the nation's total output.
In 2011, the province produced 55.4 million tonnes of grain, which marked its output increase for the eighth straight year.
