Four new African swine fever cases reported in Germany among wild boar

Germany's Federal Agriculture Ministry has confirmed a further four new African swine fever (ASF) cases among wild boar in Brandenburg state, east Germany, Reuters reported.

There have now been 69 ASF cases, all limited to Brandenburg. No farm livestock have been infected.

After the first ASF case in Germany was reported on September 10, China and other pork buyers announced a ban on German pork imports. As other European Union pork producers have filled up the gap, German pork producers are hoping to increase sales within the EU.
