13 Chinese enterprises awarded for promoting good welfare in pig farming

 

 

Organized by the world's leading international farm animal welfare charity, Compassion in World Farming (CIWF),13 Chinese enterprises were awarded recently for practicing and promoting good welfare in pig farming.

 

CIWF cooperates with the International Cooperation Committee of Animal Welfare (ICCAW), affiliated with the China Association for the Promotion of International Agricultural Cooperation (CAPIAC), to launch the Good Pig Production Awards to encourage and recognize those producers who have been faithful in improving animal welfare.

 

More than 60 Chinese enterprises have been assessedand out of which, 13 of them have been awarded. They include YanbianJincunzhang Wild Animal Production Farm, Hebei XinlaonongHusbandry Technology Co. Ltd, Jiangsu Donghai Breeder Farm, Shanxi Baicaopo Agriculture Ecologist Science Centre Co., Ltd, Shandong HuashengjiangquanAgri-husbandry Development Co., Ltd, Beijing Qingquanwan Pig Production Co. Ltd, and SanmenxiaChuyingAgri-husbandry Co., Ltd.

 

This is the first time that Chinese producers have been awarded.

 

Chief executive of CIWF,Philip Lymbery, said in an interview, he hopesthat by presenting the awards to Chinese producers, it would help to promote the concept of "animal welfare" in China, and encourage more Chinese producers to provide better care for their farm animals, meetingthe international trade standard and benefiting both the domestic and international markets.

 

Executive president of ICCAW,Xi Chunling, addedthat the welfare for pigs is just the beginning as the welfare of cow, sheep and poultry in Chinaalso need to be improved.
