Russia bans Romanian poultry due to bird flu
Russia's government said it has temporarily banned imports of Romanian poultry meat, eggs and feed, following the recent bird flu outbreak in the country.
The country also lifted the ban imposed last year on poultry imports from Canada's British Columbia province, which was hit by bird flu last year. The government said the health situation there posed no concerns at the moment.
Russia's Novosibirsk, Altai, Omsk and Tyumen regions were hit by the disease in August this year. The Kurgan region was also affected.
Meanwhile, seven dead birds found in Bulgaria were being tested for bird flu, but initial tests have proved negative for the disease, Bulgarian veterinary authorities said. The government added that final test results on the birds were expected soon.
