China's total seafood exports hit US$15 billion in first eight months this year

Data from China's General Administration of Customs showed that the country exported US$15 billion worth of seafood products between January to August 2022, 13.56% higher year-on-year, Fish Information & Services reported.
Total export volume for the eight months of this year was 2.4058 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 2.66%.
In August 2022 alone, China exported US$1.8 billion worth of seafood, 1.68% higher year-on-year, with a total export volume of 301,900 tons, a year-on-year decrease of 2.8%.
The top ten markets for China's export of aquatic products and products in the first eight months were Japan, the US, Thailand, South Korea, Malaysia, Hong Kong, China, Taiwan, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Mexico, which together accounted for China's export value of this product, which was 74.37%.
With an export value of US$2.5 billion, up 7.4% year over year, Japan was the most significant export market for aquatic products in the first eight months. The export value for the month of August was US$289 millio, a decrease of 10.89% from the same period last year.
