Dutch chicken farm 'awarded' by animal rights group for deceptive food marketing
A chicken farm under the ownership of Kloeke Kip -- a chicken producer from Grubbevorst, the Netherlands, that claims to breed stress-free birds -- had been 'awarded' for deceptive food marketing during an annual contest organised by animal rights lobby group Wakker Dier.
Wakker Dier spokesman Kenny van Oostrik dismissed Kloeke Kip's positive assertion of its chickens, accusing the farm of seeking to expand without a concrete effort towards animal welfare.
Kloeke Kip had protested against its nomination for the 'award', claiming that its barns were "the most sustainable in the world."
