China vaccinates 3 million fowls in Inner Mongolia to prevent bird flu

Three million fowls in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region have been inoculated following an outbreak of bird flu that killed nearly 1,000 fowls authorities said.

The outbreak, on a poultry farm in a village near Baotou City in late September, led to the culling of about 30,000 fowls in the area.

Vaccines were rushed to Baotou on Oct 2 for the inoculation of all the poultry in the city.

China reported two new outbreaks of bird flu in the past two weeks, which killed about 2,000 domestic poultry in the autonomous regions of Inner Mongolia and Ningxia Hui.
