Sweden's Lantmannen increases share in Germany's HaGe
Swedish cooperative feed and food firm Lantmannen has increased its share in German partner HaGe in Kiel from 5 to 20 percent, reports Dutch agricultural daily AgD.
This moves Lantmannen closer to DLG's share in the company, the largest grains and feed company in Denmark, which has 29,000 farming members.
DLG increased it share in HaGe in August from 38 to 60 percent.
HaGe is the second largest grains and compound feed trader and manufacturer in Germany, with a turnover of EUR 1.1 million (US$1.56 million) in 2006.
Lantmannen is by far the largest feed cooperative in Sweden with an annual turnover of EUR 3.5 billion (US$4.96 billion). It is owned by 40,000 Swedish farmers cultivating 75 percent of the country's farmland.
