Grieg Seafood harvests 17,700 tonnes of salmon in Q3, up from last year
Norwegian and Canadian salmon farmer Grieg Seafood harvested 17,700 gutted weight tonnes (gwt) of salmon in the third quarter of this year, according to a trading update, Fishfarmingexpert reported.
Most of this volume was produced in Norway.
This represents a significant increase of over 5,000 gwt compared to the same period last year, when the company harvested 12,245 gwt. The lower harvest in 2023 was attributed to biological events that impacted production, as the company focused on rebuilding biomass during that time.
No fish were harvested in the third quarter in Newfoundland, where Grieg Seafood is gradually ramping up production in Placentia Bay.
