Pilgrim's coronavirus management programme praised by Enterprise city officials

City officials of Enterprise, Alabama, USA, led by Mayor William E. Cooper, toured the Pilgrim's Pride poultry production facility in the city recently and said they were impressed with the company's COVID-19 safety management programme, Enterprise Ledger reports.

Cooper described the tour as "very informative" and thanked complex Manager David Massey, COVID Safety Manager Bryce Hollomon and Human Resources Manager Matthew Parkinson for "sharing with us the highly successful safety programme the company has implemented during the COVID-19 crisis".

Cooper was joined in the tour of the 300,000-square-foot facility by Enterprise Fire Chief Byron Herring, Interim Police Chief Michael Moore, Capt. Chris Davis and Special Projects Coordinator Kay Kirkland.

Massey and Hollomon said the local facility, which has more than 600 employees, has had a low percentage of coronavirus infection.

"Our primary focus area, in addition to producing the food products for our customers and providing employment opportunities, is employee safety," Hollomon was quoted as saying.

The safety practices the facility has implemented include access restrictions, revised floor plans for employee entry and exit, installation of temperature testing and hand sanitising stations, expanding break and cafeteria areas for social distancing, and installation of plexiglass shields in key locations, as per report.

Facility leaders and employees also participate in education and training regarding the virus and safety measures.

Pilgrim's is one of the world's largest poultry producers and a fully integrated pork producer. It has 39 production facilities and 27 prepared-foods facilities in 14 US states, the UK, Puerto Rico, Mexico and Europe.
