Russia poultry imports dips
Russia's poultry imports fell 1.87 percent in the first eight months of 2006, compared with the same period last year, to 818,400 tonnes, according to the federal customs service.
Despite the fall in volume, there was a rise in value. The poultry imported in January-August was worth US$563.5 million, compared with $526.2 million in January-August 2005.
Production from Russia's domestic poultry industry is surging, while demand fell earlier this year because of bird flu fears.
