Novus to continue limiting exports of Alimet methionine product

Novus International, Inc. said it would continue limiting exports of its Alimet methionine product from its Chocolate Bayou plant, Texas State, in light of the devastation caused by Hurricane Rita. The hurricane had taken out power in some areas of the US Gulf Coast and disrupted transportation systems, following the earlier damage caused by Hurricane Katrina.

Novus said that although the Texas plant was undamaged by both hurricanes, it lacked sufficient raw materials and transportation infrastructure to return to normal production levels any time soon. The company added that it was still unable to confirm when its Alimet product could resume normal distribution levels.
