South Korea reports eighth case of lumpy skin disease in cattle this year

South Korea has confirmed another case of lumpy skin disease in cattle, bringing the total number of reported cases this year to eight, Yonhap reported.

The latest case was discovered on at a livestock farm in Goseong, approximately 160 km northeast of Seoul, according to the country's Ministry of Agriculture.

This case follows closely after similar outbreaks were reported at farms in Yangyang, located 154 km northeast of the capital, and Pyeongtaek, 64 km to the south.

In response to the outbreaks, the government has cordoned off the affected farms and implemented quarantine measures to prevent further infections, the ministry said.

Provincial governments have been urged to remain vigilant against additional cases. The agriculture ministry has also emphasised the importance of completing the vaccination of cattle across the country by the end of the month.
