Russia urged to lower quotas to limit poultry imports
Russia should reduce its poultry import quotas, president of Russian poultry association Vladimir Fisinin said at a press conference in Moscow on Friday (Oct 5).
Fisinin said quotas for poultry imports must be reduced as it is hurting the growing local poultry market. He added that it is possible to lower the quota by about 30-40 percent.
Fisinin also noted that most imported poultry sold in Russia are cheap imports sold through agents. This practice has forced local producers to sell at below-cost price.
