Vietnam, South Korea inaugurated smart pig farm in Ninh Binh, Vietnam

The agriculture ministries Vietnam and South Korea in September this year held an inauguration ceremony of a smart pig farm in Ninh Binh, Vietnam.

The inauguration was part of the project, "Establishing smart farms and enhancing the pig farming value chain in Ninh Binh province", funded by the South Korean government with a budget of more than US$3 million.

The project will be implemented from 2022 to 2025 at the Tam Diep Nuclear Pig Breeding Research and Development Station (Khe Goi village, Quang Son commune, Tam Diep city, Ninh Binh province), with the Center for Digital Transformation and Agricultural Statistics of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as the project owner on the Vietnamese side.

Lee Sung Ho, project director of the South Korean side, assessed that the application of smart farm technology to the model farm in Ninh Binh is expected to bring many great values such as contributing to the production of high-quality, safe pork, reducing production costs, increasing livestock productivity, improving pig reproductive performance, and reducing pig mortality rate.

Through the project, it is hoped that Vietnamese pig farming enterprises can export high-quality and safe pork to South Korea.

The project also opens up opportunities for cooperatives, farmers, management agencies, and businesses to share and learn practical lessons in the process of implementing smart pig farming models.
