Poultry and egg industry now able to meet Jordan's local demand
Fathi Al-Jaghbir, head of the Jordan and Amman Chambers of Industry, said on September 30 that the Kingdom of Jordan's poultry and egg industry had a great development in quality and quantity of production in recent years and is now able to meet citizens' needs.
"The annual production capacity of poultry factories has reached 240,000 tonnes of poultry meat and 1.25 billion eggs, which is 125% of what the kingdom needs," Al-Jaghbir said.
According to Muhammad Walid Al-Jitan, representative of the food industries sector in Jordan Chamber of Industry, the value of investments in the poultry industry is approximately JD1.5 billion (US$2,115,682,500).
"This industry employs approximately 30,000 workers and exports 300 million eggs," Al-Jitan added.
Iyad Abu Haltam, head of the Made in Jordan campaign, said the campaign will focus on products with high specifications that achieve popularity in the local and international markets.
