Calata Corporation to distribute feed by New Hope in the Philippines
Calata Corporation will distribute its own brand of animal feed made by China's New Hope Group in the Philippines and may partner the Chinese feed producer in its future expansion activities in the country.
New Hope is one of the largest feed producers in China with annual production capacity of 26.6 million tonnes. It is also one of the largest suppliers of poultry and pig meat, egg and dairy product in China. The feed products distributed by Calata will be produced by the Philippine unit of the Chinese company.
"With annual sales of around $8.8 billion, New Hope is a national leader in the field of agribusiness enterprise in China. Similar to Calata Corporation, New Hope likewise started as a family business. Now, it has evolved into one of the industry leaders being engaged in agribusiness for 30 years," the disclosure read.
Public listed Calata distributes agro-chemicals, feeds, fertilisers, veterinary medicines and other agricultural products in partnership with San Miguel Corporation for B-Meg Feeds and veterinary products, Syngenta, Bayer, Jardine, Dupont, Sinochem – for agro-chemicals - East West Seeds, Monsanto, Planters Products for agricultural seeds, and Swire, Viking for fertilisers.
New Hope initiated an overseas strategy in 1996 and in 1999 set up its first overseas plant in Vietnam and has since expanded to Bangladesh, Philippines, Bengal, and Indonesia.
