Aviagen names new global head of Nutrition Services

Aviagen has announced the appointment of Dr. Alejandro (Alex) Corzo as global head of the company's Nutrition Services.

With a global team of eight nutritionists under his charge, Dr.Corzowill ensure Aviagen continues to provide innovative nutrition technical support for the company's international client base and Aviagen internal production operations. He will also help lead innovative company research to keep nutrition technical advice current and relevant.

Before his current appointment, Dr.Corzo worked as an associate professor at Mississippi State University in the United States for eight years. He spent the last three years at Elanco as a poultry research scientist whose responsibilities included taking new molecules from discovery to commercialisation.  

"An important part of commercial poultry production is nutrition," said Dr. Bryan Fancher, group vice-president ofAviagen's Global Technical Operations, adding that "proper nutrition is reflected in bird behavior, well-being, and biological performance."

"Nutrition continues to be a major cost component of production," he said.  "With his strong background in teaching, real-world industry experience, research and development and technical guidance, Dr.Corzo will provide great leadership to our global team, excellent support to our customers, and a strong vision for the Global Nutrition Team."
 

Dr. Corzo received his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science at the Universidad de La Salle, Colombia. He also holds a master's degree in poultry nutrition from the Oklahoma State University, US, and a PhD in poultry nutrition from Auburn University.

In addition, he completed a post-doctoral programme in poultry nutrition at the Mississippi State University.
