Norway's September seafood export goes 46% up

 
 

Norwegian seafood export increased 46% in September 2010, according to the Norwegian Seafood Export Council (Eksportutvalget for fisk/EFF).

 

The increase comes in comparison to export figures for the corresponding month of 2009. In total, Norwegian companies exported seafood for a combined value of NOK5.70 billion (EUR 708.35 million; US$981.48 million).

 

Norwegian salmon export counted for more than half of the month's overall export value at NOK2.9 billion (US$502.25 million). Through the first nine months of the 2010, Norwegian companies have exported salmon for NOK21.9 billion (US$3.79 billion), up from NOK16.8 billion (US$2.91 billion) for the first three quarters of 2009.

 

As of September, the price of mackerel was 306% higher than it had been one year earlier. The export value of herring and dried and salted cod export also increased over this period.
