Russia conducts mass poultry culling in Kurgan region
Authorities in Russia's Kurgan region have culled all birds at the Utyatskaya poultry factory following the recent bird flu outbreak there, a local official said.
Checkpoints have been set up around the factory and all poultry holding areas were treated with chlorine. Doctors also screened people living in nearby villages, paying particular attention to poultry factory workers, the official added.
Russia's government reported that so far, 110,000 of the factory's half a million birds have been incinerated.
