Germany reports three more African swine fever cases among wild boar
Germany's Federal Agriculture Ministry said on its website that three more African swine fever (ASF) cases have been detected among dead wild boar in Brandenburg state, east Germany, Reuters reported.
This brings the total number of ASF cases found in the state to 49, all limited to one area in Brandenburg state except for one case 60 km away. All cases have only been detected among wild boar, as no farm livestock have been affected by the disease.
The latest cases were confirmed by Germany's Friedrich-Loeffler scientific institute.
Authorities in the country are conducting intensive searchers for wild boar carcasses in Brandenburg state to examine how far ASF has spread, warning that more cases are to be expected.
China, Japan and South Korea have banned German pork imports since the first ASF case was reported.
